Born in Preston County on July 3, 1882, she was a daughter of the late Clinton and Mary Olive Smith Andrews. Mrs. Murphy lived in Preston County all her life and was a member of the Irondale EUB church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, Edward L. Murphy, are four sons, W. M. Murphy of Waverly, O., Leo Murphy of Independence, L. J. Murphy of Cleveland, Tenn., and L. H. Murphy of Akron, O; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Turner of Independence and Mrs. Madge Peters of Baltimore; three brothers, E. S. Andrews of Watson, H. V. Andrews of Independence and Orval Andrews of Albright, and one sister, Mrs. Ruth West of Independence. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
