He was born Aug. 16, 1880, in Barbour County, a son of the late Eugene and Palestine Nestor Coffman. His wife, Mary Mrytle McGinnis Coffman, died Jan. 1, 1954. Coffman was a retired conductor for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He retired from service in 1949 after 46 years of service. Coffman was a conductor for the B&O before his retirement in 1949 after 46 years of service. He was a member of the St. Matthias Episcopal Church and a member of the B. of R. T. and chairman of that organization for many years. He received his 50-years service pin in 1954. He was also a member of the Mt. Olivet Lodge No. 3, AF and AM of Parkersburg, the Scottish Rite Body of Clarksburg, West Virginia Consistory, Valley of Wheeling and the Osiris Temple AAONMS of Wheeling. He was presented a 50-year-pin in 1956 by Grafton Lodge No. 15, AF and AM by request of Mt. Olivet Lodge. Survivors include three sons, Gerald L. of Brooklyn, N. Y., William G. of Grafton and Richard C. of Morgantown; and one daughter, Mrs. Helen C. Phillips of Englewood, Fla. Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
