MARY G. WOOFTER BENNETT Mrs. Mary G. Woofter Bennett, 72, of Rt. 1, Grafton, died Thursday (September 9, 1971) at 7:30 a.m. at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Whitlock, Jr. of Hurricane, W.Va. She was born at Troy in Gilmer County on Feb. 18, 1899, a daughter of the late Napoleon Bonaparte and Susan Cheuvrent Woofter. Her husband was the late Harvey H. Bennett. Surviving are three children, H. William Bennett of Grafton, Mrs. J. M. (Helen) Proudfoot of Millsboro, Del., and Mrs. Raymond (Nancy) Whitlock, Jr. of Hurricane; one sister, Mrs. Emma Woofter of Camden, W. Va., and seven grandchildren. Preceding her in death were seven brothers, Earl, Frank, Robert, Claude, Henry, Alfred and George; two sisters, Ona and Beatrice; and a son, Harold Woofter Bennett. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett formerly ownded the Bennett Refrigeration Co. in Grafton. Mrs. Bennett was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grafton, Naomi Chapter No. 12 of the Order of Eastern Star, the White Shrine of Jerusalem and Gold Star Mothers. Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Barlett Funeral Home in Grafton with the Rev. Harry T. Rowe officiating. Burial will be in the Woodale Memorial Park. Friends are being received at the funeral home. The Naomi Chapter No. 12 of the Order of Eastern Start will hold services Saturday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
