F. and Mary A. (Kester) Ruttencutter. Our subject was reared on the farm in Pleasants county, and received a good common school education, and attended the Marietta academy. In 1879 he was married to Sarah A. McTaggart, daughter of E. R. and Mary D. (Moorhead) McTaggart. The result of this union was five children: Lena A., Mabel M., Wiley, Alma and Friend. He and wife are both members of the Methodist Protestant church. He is one of the trustees of the Methodist Protestant church of St. Marys and superintendent of the Sunday school. After his marriage, he came into possession of forty- five acres of land through his wife. Since his marriage Mr. Ruttencutter has added forty-five acres to his estate, on which are several oil wells producing from eight to twenty barrels per day. He has a nice and comfortable home where he dispenses old-time hospitality to his many friends. He is one of the leading young farmers of Pleasants county, and gives promise of a life of great usefulness and prosperity. From "HISTORY OF THE UPPER OHIO VALLEY," Vol. I; Brant & Fuller, 1891.
