Dayton Hawkenberry, Jr., 51, of Fairmont, died Monday morning (November 1, 1971) in the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Fairmont on May 16, 1920, a son of Esther Kelley Hawkenberry of Fairmont and the late Dayton E. Hawkenberry, Sr. He was a member of the Machinery Erectors and Maintenance Local 1369 of Morgantown. He was woring on the Harrison Power Station at Haywood as an employe of Hibbs and Hill, contractors. Survivors include his widow, Shirely Beavers Hawkenberry; his mother; two sons, Ronald Ray and David Junior, both at home; one brother, Lewis L. Hawkenberry of Columbus; three sisters, Mrs. Ramona Corbin and Miss Betty L. Hawkenberry, both of Fairmont, and Mrs. Carolyn Yost of Barnswell, S.C., and eight nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home in Fairmont after 7 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
