He was born January 17, 1922, at Simpson, Taylor County, a son of the late Clee and Nettie (Mayle) Mayle. In 1943, he married the former Roberta Croston, who preceded him in death on November 4, 1981. Surviving are four sons, Roger Lee Mayle, Galloway, Robert Lee Mayle, Louisville, Oh., Johnny Jr. Mayle, Canton, Oh., James Arthur Mayle, Grafton; two daughters, Catherine Mayle, Galloway, Violet Mayle, Brownton; one brother, Marcellus Mayle, Flemington; one sister, Alma Mayle, Canton; 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, by one sister, Ervil Mayle and by three brothers, Homer Mayle, John Mayle and Dennis Mayle. Mr. Mayle was a retired coal miner with 34 years service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had played on several area baseball teams. (Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, May 15, from the Stemple and Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. David Maley will officiate and interment will follow in the Tim Mayle Cemetery, at Pt. Pleasant Community.
