Marriage: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Hoppe-Sarau ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, June 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.org/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Northwestern November 7, 1890 South Side Wedding Last evening Miss Augusta Sarau and William Hoppe were married at the home of Chris Sarau, the bride's father, on the corner of Oregon and Eleventh streets. Justice Oellerich performed the ceremony at half past six. The bride was attended by Miss Mamie Sarau and Miss Lizzie Sarau, her sister and her cousin. E.S. Siewert and Fred Hoppe were the groomsmen. The bride was attired in blue faille with steel ornaments; Miss Mamie Sarau wore pink cashmere and Miss Lizzie Sarau wore cream cashmere. They carried flowers. Supper was served after the ceremony and a very pleasant reception followed. About 120 invitations had been issued. Among the guests from abroad were Miss Rose Sontag, Frond du Lac; William Weisberger, Appleton; August Weisberger, Calumet; Miss Lucy Heinrich and Valentine Heinrich, Merrill; J. Hoppe, Weyauwega. Mr. and Mrs. Hoppe will make their home with Mr. Sarau for the present but a house on Thirteenth street is in process of construction for them.
