Emigrated to Winnebago Co., with his parents in 1850. Located 3 miles northeast of Winneconne on the farm known as the old David Vredenburg homestead, coming to Milwaukee by boat and from there by ox team. Was married to Eleanor Bell, daughter of Geo. Bell, also early settlers, in 1862. Five children were born to them. Was elected member of the Assembly from the 2nd District of Winnebago Co., in 1882 and served two years. He has held several positions of honor and trust in his township and county. He lived continuously in the town Winneconne until the death of his wife in 1897. Then moving to Dickinson, N.D., making frequent visits to his daughter, Mrs. H.W. Tipler, of Elberton, Wash., where he passed away. Five children are left to mourn the loss of a father. Mrs. H.W. Tipler, of Elberton, Wash., Wm. of Long Beach Cal., David of Winneconne, George and Mrs. Ed. Persons of Dickinson, N. Dak. The funeral was held last Friday at the home of his son David.
