Mrs. Hannah I. Rankins, 84 an early settler in the town of Forest, died 
Thursday evening, August 29, at her home in that town. Funeral services were 
held from the Billings Creek Christian church, at two o, clock Sunday 
afternoon, September 1. The Rev. Roy Williams, pastor of the Viroqua Christian 
Church, officiated at the services. Burial was in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Hannah Parrish, daughter of David and Jane Elizabeth Boldon Parrish, was born 
December 28, 1855, at Windfall, Tipton county, Indiana. When she was a child of 
eight years, she came to Wisconsin with her parents. The Parrish family 
established their home in the town of Forest, Vernon county, and there Hannah 
attended the Fairview school and grew to young womanhood.
She was married to William H. Rankins. They made their home in Forest township 
where they took an active interest in the progress and welfare of the 
community. Mrs. Rankins was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and was 
active in all that would promote the work of the church. Mrs. Rankins' life was 
one filled with kindness to others and her generosity and neighborliness won 
for her the regard and affection of many who mourn her death. She will be 
remembered as a fine lady, an affectionate mother and a sincere friend.
Mrs. Rankins is survived by six children; Mrs. Clara Dobbs of LaFarge, Clarence 
Rankins of Mason City, IA., Charles Rankins of LaFarge, Frank Rankins of 
Ontario, Ernest Rankins of Ontario and Ervin Rankins , Richland Center. She was 
preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 1904; one son, and three 
sisters.
