Davey, who died in this city about fifteen years ago. Deceased was born in the parish of Lanlivery, Cornwall, England, in March 1817, and came to this country in 1848, settling for about 10 months in Canada, after which she came to Dodgeville, where she has resided ever since. "She was a familiar figure in the history of Dodgeville, and esteemed by everyone of her large circle of acquaintances, who delighted to meet and greet her by the familiar and maternal name of ‘Grandma’” "She united herself with the P.M. church of this city, in 1861, and had kept the faith of her profession in the most devoted Christian manner during all the remainder of her useful and exemplary life. "Of her four children, but one survives, though there are many grandchildren, some of whom reside in this city, among them being Mr. W. J. Davey, engaged in business here. The survivor is a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Cocking, who resides at Kearsage, Michigan, who has been here in constant attendance upon her mother since the week before Christmas. "The funeral took place on Wednesday, of this week, at two o'clock p.m., from the P.M. church, where Rev. R. Titmarsh conducted the services, after which the remains were placed in the Dodgeville cemetery beside those of other members of the family who had gone before. The funeral services and burial rites were administered in the presence of a very large gathering of sorrowing friends who came to pay the last dues of honor and respect to one who had lives in the exemplification of every christian virtue, and died with the weight of years resting lightly upon her."
