DAVIDSON (Rep.), was born June 18, 1858, in Colchester, Delaware county, N. Y.; received a common school education in the public schools and at Walton Academy, Walton, N. Y.; was a teacher in the public schools of Delaware and Sullivan counties, N. Y., for several years, and for one year was engaged in the same occupation at Princeton, Green Lake county, Wis. He began the study of law at Walton, N. Y., and graduated from the Albany Law School as president of the class in 1884. Subsequently removed to Green Lake county, Wis., and commenced the practice of law in that county in 1887 ; was elected district attorney of Green Lake county in 1888, and in 1890 was chosen chairman of the republican congressional committee for the sixth district of Wisconsin, and continued in that position until he was nominated for congress on Aug. 20, 1896. On Jan. 1, 1892, he removed to Oshkosh, and became a member of the law firm of Thompson, Harshaw & Davidson, which partnership continued for three years, when he withdrew and continued the practice alone. In May, 1895, he was appointed city attorney of that city for a term of two years. He was elected to congress in 1896, 1898, 1900 and in 1902, receiving 19,553 votes against 12,651 for Thomas H. Patterson (Dem.), 733 for Joseph Mathews (Pro.), and 880 for Charles C. Frain (Soc). Additional Comments: The Blue Book of the State of Wisconsin.
