WAUNAKEE/HARVARD, ILL. - Arlene M. Lucey, age 90, of Waunakee Retirement Center, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004. She was born in the town of Troy on April 8, 1914, the daughter of the late Julius and Bertha (Burga) Wenzel. She was united in marriage to Merle M. Lucey on Sept. 30, 1939. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1995. The couple resided in Maywood and Harvard, Ill., for many years. Arlene attended the Sauk County Normal School and taught school for a few years. In addition, she and Merle, both worked for the U.S. Postal Service for several years. She is survived by a brother- in-law, Bernard (Doranna) Lucey of Sauk City; four sisters-in-law, Josephine Coyle of Madison, Marvyl Lucey of Tucson, Ariz., Bernadette Lucey of Sauk City, and Marie Wenzel of Sauk City; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther (Charles) Fuchs and Leona (Albert) Alt; a brother, Julius Wenzel; a sister-in-law, Sister Barnaba Lucey OSF; and two brothers- in-law, John Lucey and Melchoior Coyle. A funeral service will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Mazomanie, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, with Father Jason Hesseling officiating. Burial will be in St. Barnabas Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The family wishes to express their thanks to all who were a part of Arlene's life.
