Demers Obituary in Sept 28, 1985 Rice Lake Chronotype "Funeral services for Malcolm F. Demers, 68, formerly of Rice Lake, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rice Lake. Visitation will be this Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Jarocki Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. today. Rev. Kevin Gordon will officiate at the services and at burial in the church cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by the Rice Lake American Legion. Mr. Demers died Friday, Sept 23 at Wood Veterans Hospital in Milwaukee. He was born May 7, 1920 in Rice Lake and married Marie Gonyer on Dec. 30, 1941. They later divorced. He was a member of the National Guard Red Arrow-32nd Division from 1940 to 1945. As a member of the Armed Forces 128th Infantry, he served 3 years in the South Pacific during World War II, earning six major battle stars. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1949. He later worked a number of years at the dairy in Rice Lake before moving to Milwaukee in 1960. He was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and the American Legion. Mr. Demers is survived by his sons, Lynne, Donnell and Todd, all of Bloomer, Dale of Thornton, Colo., Paul of Denver, Colo., and John of Northgleen, Colo.; daughters, Yvonne Peil of Bloomer, Carol Davis of Thornton, Colo., Elaine Kopping of Rice Lake, Judy Conley of Pendergrass, Ga., and Nancy Minford of Bittburg, Germany; 18 grandchildren; his mother, Eva Demars; and brothers, Elmer of Indianapolis, and Clarence, Don, Pat, LeRoy and Eugene (Joe), all of Rice Lake; sisters, Isabelle Bard of Duluth, Minn., and Marcella Griesen and Leona Richter, both of Rice Lake."
