Submitted by: Kent Robarge 03 August 2007 ************************************************************************ Obituary of Louis Crotteau in Wed., Nov. 3, 1954 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron Co., WI) LOUIS CROTTEAU Funeral services for Louis Crotteau, 75, retired Rice Lake carpenter, were held this Wednesday morning at St. Joseph's church with Msgr. Peter F. Meyer officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery. Mr. Crotteau, who had made his home at 136 W. Marshall st. for many years, died at a local hospital Saturday morning. He had been in poor health for several years. Born in Rice Lake March 6, 1879, he grew up here and was married to the former Roseanne Boury at Dobie on June 5, 1906. The couple lived in the town of Rice Lake until moving to Rice Lake in 1911. In addition to his wife, Mr. Crotteau is survived by four sons, Clifford of Minneapolis, Chester of Milwaukee, Duwayne of Lapeer, Mich., and Marvin of Mauston, Wis.; five daughters, Mrs. Iola Johnson and Miss Rosella Crotteau of St. Paul, Miss Eugenia Crotteau and Mrs. Donna Mae Hovet of Elgin, Ill., and Mrs. Ellen Harmon of Longview, Wash. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Prosper Boury of Rt. 1, Rice Lake; two brothers, Frank and Peter of Canton; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Because of ill health, Mr. Crotteau had been forced to retire from carpentry about 1935.
