Submitted by: Kent Robarge 28 September 2003 ************************************************************************ Chartier, Arthur From Rice Lake Chronotype Thursday, April 28, 1921 Obituary "ARTHUR CHARTIER Arthur Chartier died at his home near this city on Wednesday, April 20, at the age of 38 years, 10 months and 1 day, after an illness of several months with diabetes. Mr. Chartier was born in Canada but came to this country with his parents when four years of age. He grew up on a farm in this vicinity, was in the livery business at Barron for two years, and the balance of his life was engaged in farming and in the saloon business. The day of his death was the eighteenth anniversary of his wedding to Minnie Forrest, who survives him with seven children: Marie, Nina, Geneva, Roy, Lloyd, Archie and May. Besides his own family, he is survived by his father, S. Chartier; five brothers: Armidos and Albert of Montana, Will and John of this city, and Ed of Haugen; and five sisters: Mrs. Louis Renville of Saskatchewan, Canada, Mrs. Louis Plourde of Park Falls, Mrs. Adolph Belland of Alberta, Canada, Mrs. Charles Mercier of this city and Mrs. Ed Hayes of Superior. Funeral services were held from St. Joseph's church on Saturday, three of his brothers, Will, John and Ed, and three of his brothers-in-law, Alex, Joe and Wilfred Forrest, acting as pall bearers. Mr. Chartier was a popular young man of this city and vicinity, and had many friends who extend their sympathy to the bereaved relatives."
