Monring Oregonian October 14, 1904
Hoquiam,Wash.Oct.13-(Special)- Mrs. Arthur Mason has just received word from a 
firm of lawyers in Chicago of the final settlement of the estate of her former 
husband by which settlement Mrs.Mason receives the sum of $38,000. Some years 
ago Mrs.mason's husband died without leaving a will, having an estate 
estimated at about $200,000. There being several other claimants to the estate 
beside the widow the matter was thrown into the courts, where it has remianed 
ever since.
A few weeks ago the different heirs came to the conclusion that their was 
nothing in fighting at law, as the estate was getting smallerand beautifully 
less, so they decided to compromise.
