All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.org/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.org/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ NANNIE JORDAN WORRELL Mrs. Nannie Jordan Worrell Mrs. Nannie Jordan Worrell of the Como community died December 8, 1927, after an illness of twelve months. She was born in Morganton, N. C., Burke County, in 1850 and attended school in the Morganton Academy, moving to Hertford County when she was eight years of age, and spending her life in the Como neighborhood. She was married to William Roscoe Worrell in 1868 who preceded her to the grave about 14 years ago. Mrs. Worrell was a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church until Sunbeam Church was built, then moving her membership to Sunbeam. She was unable to attend church for some time before her death but was always willing to help and do her share in the Lord’s work. She is survived by eight children: John F., Lackey F. of Como, Mrs. Carrie Porter and Joe S. Worrell of Newsons, W. M., W. F., R. N. and Mary E. Worrell of Como, eleven grandchildren and a number of relatives. The funeral services were conducted from the home of her Pastor, Dr. G. H. Oliver, and a former pastor, Rev. L. F. Paulette. Internment was made in the family burying ground. The body bearers were her six sons: J. F., L. F., J. S., W. M., W. F. and R. N. Worrell. Six of her grandchildren were flower bearers, Mrs. Nannie Porter Drake, Misses Lois Porter, Helen Worrell, Nellie Worrell, Lynwood Worrell and Ralph Porter.
