She was widow of Gus Crumpler Whitehead and a daughter of Charlie Thomas and Mrs. Mary Long Vann. A native of Northampton County, N.C., she was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Irene W. Smith of Tampa, Fla.; four sons, Arthur C. Whitehead of Waverly, Warner V. Whitehead of Branchville, William Wallace Whitehead of Chesapeake, and Delbert L. Whitehead of Handsom; five sisters, Mrs. Temple Brittle of Potecasi, N.C., Mrs. Eunice Whitley of Murfreesboro, N.C., Mrs. Molly Satko of Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Emilie Martin of Milwaukee, N.C., and Mrs. Florence Moore of Franklin; five brothers, Bennie Vann of Murfreesboro, John Vann of Courtland, Dudley Vann of Decatur, Ala., and Clyde Vann and C.Q. Vann of Conway, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev.
