Mr. Whitehead was the husband of the late Fannie Applewhite Whitehead of Southampton County and son of the late James Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Jordan Whitehead. He was a member of Courtland Methodist Church. Surviving him are four daughters, Mrs. Bess Whitehead Hassett of Pope, Mrs. Blanch W. Williams of Norfolk, Mrs. Frances W. Jinnette and Mrs. Kate W. Duggins, both of Richmond; a brother, Reginald F. Whitehead of Emporia. The body was taken to the funeral home of W.J.M. Holland and Sons of Franklin where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. David Willis. Interment will be made in Courtland Cemetery.
