FIERS MOORE Mrs. Carrie Fiers Moore, daughter of the late Richmond T. and Nannie Thorpe Fiers and a well-known native of Southampton County, died Thursday, June 13, at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Elvin L. Piers, 219 W. 20th Street, Norfolk. Mrs. Moore was born near Sunbeam on September 5, 1875. She was educated in private schools and graduated from Roanoke College. After her marriage to William E. Moore of Southampton County, she lived in Norfolk, Chincotegue Island, Shelltown, Pocomoke, and Salisbury, Md. and then spent ten years with devoted friends, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Curry and their son, Wayne, in Wyoming, Del. before going to live with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Fiers in Norfolk, where death came suddenly. Mrs. Moore is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Frank E. Everett of Denbigh, and Mrs. K.R. Bishop of Handsom; six nieces, Mrs. R.S. Edwards of Boykins, Mrs. J.L. Sykes of Newsoms, Mrs. Amorette Turner of Pamlico, S.C., Mrs. Allen Morris of Woodland, N.C., Mrs. Mabel Carter of Hartsville, S.C. and Mrs. Fred Stewart of Franklin; five nephews, Walter R. Bishop of Handsom, Cecil, E.Q. and Clarence Wilhoit of Columbia, S.C. and Richmond T. Wilhoit of Florence, S.C.; two step-grandchildren, Mrs. Margaret Groton and Edwin Tilghman of Salisbury, Md. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, June 15, at 3 o'clock from Mt. Horeb Methodist Church of which she wa the oldest member having joined the church September 22, 1888, under the ministry of Rev. T. Burton. Mrs. Moore was loyal and faithful to her church and was buried in the church cemetery. Rev. O.L. Gochenour conducted the service and read a poem "The Eternal Goodness" which was most appropriate fitting the life and good works of a good woman. [Carrie S. (FIERS; Mrs. William E.)
