MUELLER Last rites for Edward L. Mueller, 62, husband of Mrs. Bertie Pond Mueller of New York City, were conducted at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon. October 17, at 2 o'clock by Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin. The pallbearers were R.J. Hotchkiss, of Sedley and W.T. Pace, Jr., J.F. Sandlin, R.E. Sandllin, Harry Steinhardt and Jesse A. Weed, Jr., of Franklin. Mr. Mueller was born in Washington, D.C, on December 18, 1888, the son of the late Carl and Wilhelmina Bernhardi Mueller. For the past 30 years he had made his home in New York. A graduate of the Georgetown Law School, Mr. Mueller was for several years a patent attorney for Virginian? Telephone Company, after which he operated independently as a patent lawyer until 1943, when he went with the Control Instrument Company to head up its patent department. He served in this capacity until his fatal illness. He died in the Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, early Sunday morning, October 14, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held in the Herbet Funeral Home, New York City, on Tuesday. Mr. Mueller is survived by his wife, a former resident of Franklin; a daughter, Mrs. Floyd Townsley; three grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Wilma M. Nicholson.
