Kitchen, one of our oldest citizens, died at the age of 78 years Monday morning at eleven o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.T. Miles, near here, after a lingering illness of several weeks. He was a Confederate soldier, a highly respected citizen and for many years was a member of the Baptist Church, where his funeral was conducted by his Pastor Tuesday afternoon at 230 o’clock, after which interment was made in the cemetery. One son, Mr. Kitchen of Como, N.C., and four daughters, Mrs. H.T. Miles, Mrs. J.D. Bryant, and Mrs. W.D. Barnes of this place and Mrs. Richard Ferguson of Holland, besides a large number of grandchildren and other relatives survive him. [James R.
