GEORGE C. HAND

   Franklin, Aug. 9, - (special) - Funeral services for George Curtis Hand, who 
died Saturday night were held Monday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock from his 
residence near Franklin by Rev. Elwood W. Jones. 

   Mr. Hand is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Johnson Hand; three daughters, 
Mrs. A.L. Turner and Miss Sarah Lee Hand, of Suffolk and Mrs. W.E. Arrington of 
Zuni; two sons, G.C. Hand, Jr. of Newport News, and Tilman Vann Hand of 
Franklin; two brothers, W.O. Hand of Capron, Va. and J.N. Hand of Emporia; two 
sisters; Mrs. Ruth Conn, of Emporia; stepmother, Mrs. Nannie Hand of Emporia, 
and a number of grandchildren. 

   Pallbearers were A.L. Turner, Waverly Turner, George Turner, R.L. Gray, E.L. 
Glover, Joseph Fowler, W.E. Arrington and Mr. Conn. Interment was in Poplar 
Spring Cemetery.
