BESSIE G. DAVIS BURIED IN COURTLAND Courtland, Sept 19 - Mrs. Bessie Gillette Davis, 70, died Sunday afternoon at her home after an extended illness. She was the widow of Jesse Benjamin Davis, who died July 23, and the daughter of the late Joseph Lewis and Rebecca Cobb Gillette, of Southampton County. She was a member of Courtland Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ethel D. Marks and Mrs. Bessie D. Rogers, of Courtland and Mrs. E.L. Marks, Jr., of Sebrell; one son, Lewis W. Davis, of Courtland; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one brother, T.A. Gillette, Sr., of Franklin, and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Davis and Miss Lucille Gillette, both of Courtland. Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. at the residence by the Rev. E.R. Collie. Burial was in Courtland Cemetery. [Bessie Murdaugh (GILLETTE; Mrs. Jesse B.)
