BRANTLEY Mrs. Nancy Virginia Brantley, widow of the late Joseph L. Brantley, died February 26, 1920, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.J. Jones, Portsmouth, Va. The deceased was a Miss Joyner before her marriage and spent most of her life in Southampton county. The last six years of her life she spent in the home of her daughter in Portsmouth. She has been a member of the Methodist church for a number of years and was a member of the Portsmouth M.E. church at the time of her death. She was a kind, loving friend and a most devoted mother and grandmother. She leaves two sons, L.N. and J.H. Brantley and one daughter, Mrs. J.J. Jones and five grandchildren all of Portsmouth. She was an aunt of Mrs. D.C. Gillette of near Franklin. The remains were brought to Franklin and laid to rest beside her husband in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The services were conducted at the grave by Rev. J.A. Chapman. The pallbearers were Tom Jones, C. J. Jones, M. G Cobb, Charlie Jones, D.C. Gillette, E. Frank Story, Herbert Brantley and L.A. Whitley.
