MARTHA HOWELL BROWN Mrs. Martha Howell Brown, widow of the late Richard Dixon Brown, died at her home in Franklin Saturday, December 18, age 61 years. Mrs. Brown, who was the daughter of the late Alexander Howell and Mary Robertson Howell, was born in this county and had made her home in Franklin since her marriage in 1879. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John Beaton and Mrs. Joseph P. Johnson, one sister, Miss Chetta Howell, on brother, Mr. Alexander Howell and two grandchildren. Burial services, conducted by her pastor, Rev. M.A. MacLean, assisted by Dr. C.H. Rowland were held at the grave in Poplar Spring cemetery at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The active pallbearers were Jeff Robertson, Claude Howell, Henry Johnson, Arthur Howell, E.F. Gray, Hurley Daughtrey, Willard Cooper and R.L. Forresst; honorary, Uriah Rawls, W.H. Jones, J.N. Cobb, T.O. Barrett, I.E. Howell, C.R. Johnson, J.R. Howell, W.C. Rawls, J.E. Pruden, J.B. Gay, Livy Beaton, J.T. Butler.
