W. Rawls, Inc., oil distributor of Franklin died of heart attack Wednesday afternoon in route to a Norfolk hospital. Mr. Blythe was in Norfolk waiting for his oil tank truck to be filled when he collapsed. He had been treated previously by a physician for a heart condition. Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at W.J.M. Holland funeral home by the Rev. Gilliam C. Bentley, pastor of High street Methodist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring cemetery. A lifelong resident of the community, he was a member of High Street Methodist Church and was the son of the late James Robert and Mrs. Nettie Joyner Blythe of Franklin. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna Pittman Blythe of the home two sons, Fred Blythe and Hugh Pittman Blythe of the home; two daughters, Jane Terrell Blythe and Ann Carolyn Blythe, Also of the home; four brothers, Ashby Blythe of Norfolk, Bernard Blythe and Howard Blythe of Franklin, and Percy Blythe of Hopewell; six sisters Mrs. Graham Atkins and Mrs. Herman Cobb of Franklin, Mrs. J.D. Harrison of Norfolk, Mrs. Kate Saunders of Richmond; Mrs. Morris Clements of Brandon and Mrs. Claud Dunn of Prince George. Pallbearers were Arthur Smith, W.G. O'Brien, S.W. Rawls, Jr., John Galloway, Edgar Blythe, Hugh Taylor, Sr., Matthew Turner and Dr. Darden W. Jones.
