FLY BOWLES Mrs. Maggie Fly Bowles, wife of Mr. Walter Bowles, was born March 15th, 1872 and died January 25th, 1918, age 46 years and nine months. She is survived by her husband, Walter Bowles and three children, Katie, Bennie and Blanche. She was converted early in life, uniting with the Baptist Church and later on joined the Methodist church, of which she was a consistent member. Her end was not unexpected. For years she had been almost an invalid and for the past year was almost constantly confined to her bed, but bore her affliction with calm fortitude and confidence in Him in whom she believed. Her body was tenderly borne to the M.E. church on Sunday evening, January 27th. Here a crowd of sorrowing friends assembled to attest the high esteem in which she was held and to accompany the body to the grave where after the funeral services, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.R. Evans, assisted by Rev. L. F. Paulette of the Baptist church, She was laid to rest in the family section in Newsoms cemetery. Her friends will miss her, the immediate members of the family, who lavished every possible attention upon her, with a world of affection, will be greatly bereaved but the consolations of the Gospel of Jesus Christ will soothe and sustain and the expectation of a glad reunion will encourage a patient continuance in well-doing.
