BEATON Robert L. Beaton of Norfolk, who was drowned in Hampton Roads last week and whose body was recovered on Monday, were conducted at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased lost his life last Thursday when he went overboard from the outboard motorboat he was testing. Dr. Paul J. Parker, Elizabeth City County coroner, ruled that death was due to accidental drowning. the empty motorboat was found some days before Mr. Beaton's body was recovered near Fort Monroe. Before going to Norfolk 10 years ago to make his home, Mr. Beaton had resided in Victoria. He was the son of Mrs. Mary Hatfield Beaton of Sedley and the late E. Hunter Beaton, and the husband of Mrs. Mabel Wrigglesworth Beaton of Victoria. Other survivors are a daughter, Miss Barbara Allen Beaton of Victoria; a brother Howard Hunter Beaton of Norfolk; and five sisters, Mrs. Rollie H. Powell of Washington, D.C., Mrs. George H. Raiford of Victoria, Mrs. P.O. Duck, Jr., of Sedley, Mrs. George E. Lindsey of Falls Church, and Mrs. R.J. Bartholomew of Portsmouth. Pallbearers at the funeral of Mr. Beaton on Tuesday were Rabey Beale, A.E. Drewry, Edgar Drewry, Crawley Edwards, O.H. Newsome, and Berry Wrigglesworth.
