All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.org/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.org/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JAMES REDDICK BOYETTE James Reddick Boyette, 77, a native of Southampton County and a longtime resident of Franklin, died at his home on Walnut Street on Sunday afternoon, September 2. He had been in failing health for more than a year. The son of Timothy and Rebecca Vaughan Boyette, he was the proprietor of a blacksmith and repair shop in Franklin for many years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anne Carr Boyette; two foster sons, Robert E. Coggsdale and Wallace Harrison, both of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Jones of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Blanche Thomas of New York City; and two brothers, Charlie Boyette of Windsor and Willie Boyette of Suffolk. Funeral services for Mr. Boyette were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery by Rev. R.D. Stephenson, a former pastor of the deceased, and Rev. E.C. Thornton, pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Active pallbearers were John Beale, Sr., W.E. Beale, J.C. Butler, Carlton Cutchin, Fred Edwards, Soloman W. Gardner, Hugh Gibson, Thomas Vincent and R.L. Wellons.
