A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of Thomas and Mrs. Lucy Applewhite [Vaughan] and the widow of Henry David Babb. She was a member of Courtland Methodist Church and Clara Parker Circle. She is survived by four sons, David B. Babb and Lewis S. Babb of Courtland, Henry C. Babb of Ahoskie, N.C., and Marvin W. Babb of Roanoke; three daughters, Mrs. Bettie Kolb of Lake Worth, Fla, Mrs. B.G. Herring of Goldsboro, N.C., and Mrs. Bertha Pittman of Waverly; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Whitehead and Mrs. Lucy Worrell of Courtland; three brothers, Thomas Vaughan, Emmett R. Vaughan and Roland L. Vaughan of Courtland; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Harrell Fuss.
