Damages & O.R. William Fitzgerald is allowed 1 days attendendence as a Witness for Haile ads. Keaton Mary Fitzgerald is allowed 1 days attendence as a Witness for the same ads. same. MAY COURT (29 May 1800) ...on the Examination of Josiah Bryant on Suspicion of Feloniously taking away two Cows, then in the Poseon. of Wm. Banks Deputy Shf. Present: Charles Thomas, Hamon Critz, Joseph Stovall & John Hughes -- Gentlemen Justices The said Prisoner was Brought to the Bar in Custody of the Shf. and after Divers witnesses being examined as well on behalf of the Commonwealth as the said Prisoner, and on Consideration therof the Court was of Opinion that he be bound to his good behaviour for 12 Month and a day, and Accordingly he the sd. Bryant together with Joseph Reynolds & John Sharp Jr. his security severally acknowledged themselves to the Comwealth of Virginia that is to say the said Bryan in the sum of 50 dollars & his sd. security in the sum of 25 dollars each to be levied to be levied according to Law etc. in case of failure. JULY COURT (31 July 1800) Thomas Mitchell foreman, Wm. Hancock, John Turner, William Burnett, James Turner, Wm. Sharp, Edward Lewis, Barnard M. Price, Adison Anglin, John Adams, David Taylor, John Spencer, Sharp Barton, Christopher Long, James Epperson, David Rogers & James Denney were Swo. a Grand Jury of Inquest for the body of this County whereupon they withdrew to consult on their Presentments. William Carter, Stephen Lyon, & Francis Turner is recommended to the executive as Proper & fit Persons to serve as Shf for this County. AUGUST COURT (28 August 1800) Eliphaz Shelton is allowed 1 days attendc. as a Witness for John Nowlin v Francis Nowlin Samuel Scritchfield is appointed Surveyor of the Road from the Top of the Bull Mtn. to Gossetts Bounds, in the Place of Ignatious Reins & the list filed be his Gang. James Turner, John Breden Jr., Wm. Sloan, & Wm. Fuson or any 3 of them are appointed to View a way for a Road from James Denneys, to the County line on the Direction to the head of Road Iland, & make report thereof to the Court. Richard Sharp is appointed Surveyor of the Road in the Place of George Lackey from the Top of the Bull Mountain to Foleys, & the list filed be his Gang. George Lackey is appointed Surveyor the Road from the forks of the Road by said Lackeys to the Cycamore Road, & the list filed be his Gang. The Overseers of the Poor on behalf of Jane Barton v David Rogers on a Recognizance for support of a Bastard child of the said Jane, on consideration thereof, Judgment for five pounds & Costs.
