JOHN WILLIAM SMITH

  Suffolk, Dec. 13, - J. W. Smith, aged 59, prominent citizen of Holland, died 
Monday at midnight after an illness of several months.

  He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Smith, three children, Misses 
Katherine and Ethleen Smith, and Thorburn Smith, of Holland, and a brother, 
J. L. Smith, of Nansemond County. Funeral services will be held at Holland 
Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by the Rev. L. F. Paulette. 
Interment will be made in the Beaver Dam Cemetery.

[Note: John William Smith died December 12, 1927. He was born September 2, 1868 
 to William Jackson Smith and Virginia (Jennie) Cross. (pvm)]
