ROSA GERTRUDE VAUGHAN SMITH

   Suffolk, Sept. 29 -Mrs. Gertrude Vaughan Smith, 74, of Holland died today at 
4 p.m., in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was the 
widow of John William Smith, of Holland, and daughter of the late Jessie and 
Catharine Hannah Bradshaw Vaughan, of Murfreesboro, N.C.

  She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W. H. Corbitt of Portsmouth; Mrs. 
A. H. Howell of Norfolk; one son, T.V. Smith of Holland, and a niece who made 
her home with her, Miss Jesse Mae Lankford, of Holland; two sisters, Mrs. 
Beulah Butler, Norfolk; Mrs. Otelia Harrell, Whaleyville; five grandchildren 
and one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

   The body was taken to the I. O. Hill and Company Funeral Home where it will 
remain until Wednesday at 2 p.m., at which time it will be taken to the Holland 
Baptist Church for services at 3 p.m., conducted by the Rev. L.L. McGee, 
pastor. Burial will be in the Beaver Dam Cemetery near Carrsville.
