The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.org ************************************************************************ Page 165 I Joseph Gravely of the County of Henry, Va being of sound mind & perfect memory, but being old and inform do hereby/ make my last will and testament in the manner and form following (that is to say) 1 I desire that all the perishable part of my estate be sold after my decease and out of the moneys arising therefrom/ all my just debts be paid and the ballance divided equally amongst my children. 2 After the payment of my debts I desire my wife if she should be the longest liver to keep my property during her/ life and after her decease I give to my children here after mentioned and to be enjoyed by them forever. 3 I give to my seven sons to be equally divided amongst them the following negros Ned, Anthony, Lucy, Jude/ Sam, Jerry, Phil, Susa, Cruse, Jane & Betsy & Tilda & their increase. 4 I give to my two daughters to be equally divided between them the following negros John & Charity & their/ increase if any. 5 I give to my son Willis independant of my other children all my tract of land 6 I do hereby constitute and appoint my sons George & Peyton Gravely executors of this my last will and testa-/ment hereby revoking all others or former wills or testaments heretofore made. The foregoing last will and testament of Joseph Gravely decd was produced in court proven by the oaths of/ John Davis and Jubal Zeigler two of the subscribing witnefs and ordered to be recorded whereupon George Gravely/ One of the executors therein named qualified as such and with Joseph Martin & John D. Watkins his sec-/urities entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $10,000 conditioned according to law/ and leave is reserved so Peyton gravely the other executor to qualify as such.
