Capitalization, spelling, etc. has not been changed. ~ Rose Thompson Fox Grayson Co, VA Deed Book 3, page 391-392 This indenture made the 21st day of December in the year of Christ one Thousand eight hundred and sixteen between John Fielder, Sheriff of Grayson County, Virginia an behalf of the Commonwealth agreeably to the 27 this section of an act of afsembly passed the 9th day of February on thousand eight hundred and fourteen entitled an act concerning taxes on lands of the one part and Catron Thompson of the county of Grayson and State of Virginia of the other part Witnesseth that whereas John Fielder, Sheriff of said County on behalf of the Commonwealth agreeably to the above recited and hath exposed to sale at public auction at the courthouse of said county on the 25th day of August one thousand eight hundred and sixteen, three hundred acres of land reurned delinquent by the sheriff of said county of Grayson for the non-payment of taxes due thereon in the name of a Mitchell Thompson for the years and the damages due thereon which tax damages and clerk's fees amount to the sum of two dollars and twelve cents and the said Catron Thompson purchased three hundred acres for the sum of two dollars and twelve cents at the sale aforesaid to discharge the said years of tax, damages, and fees due agreeably to the said recited act. The receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and in consideration thereof I do by these presents certify and confirm the above unto and on behalf of the Commonwealth agreeably to the requisitions of the above recited act sell, convey and confirm unto the said Catron Thompson and her heirs forever, all the right and title of the said Commonwealth and the said Mitchell Thompson in and to the said three hundred acres of land sold as aforesaid. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the say and date first above written.
