Grayson County, VA Deed - Halsey to Halsey - 1832 Book 12, Page 386 This Indenture made this fifth day of April in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two. Between us the heirs of William Halsey deceased of the one part of the County of Grayson and the State of Virginia of the one part and James Halsey of the County and State aforesaid witness that we the under subscribed heirs for the sum of sixty Dollars to us in hand paid the receipt is hereby acknowledged and ourselves therewith fully satisfied and paid hath given granted bargained sold and conveyed unto James Halsey a certain tract of land containing fifty acres it being and lying in the county and state aforesaid and bounded as followeth: Beginning at a white oak and hickory on the Bank of New River in a field thence up the river and Binding thereon South 20 East one hundred and ten poles to three black walnut on the Bank of the river. North 95 East one hundred and fifty Eight poles two Chestnut trees to John Coxes Corner thence with a conditional line sixty poles more or less to white oak thence to the beginning together with all roads waters ways mines minerals and heredataments and appurtenances to him the said James Halsey his heirs and assigns free and clear from all rights title claims and encumbrances the speculation claims. Teste Wm R. Dickey C. C. Grayson County Court August Term 1867 A deed of bargain and Sale form the Heirs of William Halsey to James Halsey was again produced in open court and John Phipps a subscribing witness thereto being dead Preston Phipps was introduced as a witness and proved the hand writing of the Testing witness John Phipps and the said deed is ordered to be Recorded.
