Robertson of the same County and State of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James Alexander and wife for and in consideration of the sum of Eighty five dollars payable twelve months from this date lawful money of Virginia to them in hand to be paid by the said George C. Robertson the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said George C. Robertson and his heirs and assigns, all their undivided interest in a certain tract or parcel of land in the South Mountain, known as the Union Blackrock Calibrate [?] Springs and owned by a Company of which the said James Alexander is one, the whole body of the land owned by said Company contains about fifteen hundred and eighty acres, and the interest of the said Alexander is the undivided one twelfth, together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining To have and to hold the said interest in said land with its appurtenances unto the said George C. Robertson and his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said George C. Robertson and his heirs and assigns and the said James Alexander and wife for themselves & their heirs executors and administrators do covenant with the said George C. Robertson and his heirs and assigns that they the said James Alexander and wife and their executors and administrators the said interest [blurry] and its appurtenances unto the said George C. In witness whereof the said James Alexander and wife have hereunto set their hands and seals on the day and year first above written. James Alexander (Seal) Emily A. Alexander (Seal) Signed sealed and delivered in presence of [no witness names are given] State of Virginia Augusta County to wit, We J. B. Breckinridge & B. Crawford Justices of the peace in the County aforesaid and State of Virginia do hereby certify that Emily A. Alexander the wife of James Alexander parties to a certain deed for the conveyance of real estate to George C. Robertson, bearing date the 30th day of April 1851 and hereto annexed personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apart from her husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her, she the said Emily A. Alexander acknowledged the same to be her act and deed, declared that she had willingly signed sealed and delivered the same and that she wished not to retract it. Given under our hands, this 30th day of April 1851. J. B. Breckinridge, J.P. Benjamin Crawford, J. P. State of Virginia Corporation of Staunton to wit, I Nicholas K. Trout a Justice of the peace in the Corporation aforesaid and State of Virginia, do hereby certify that James Alexander party to the within deed, hath duly acknowledged the same before us on the 30th day of April 1851, and desired me to certify the said acknowledgement to the Clerk of the County Court of Augusta County in order that the said conveyance may be recorded. As witness my hand. Nicho. K. Trout, J. P. Augusta County Court Clerk's Office April 30th 1851 This Deed from James Alexander & wife to George C. Robertson was this day presented in the office aforesaid and being acknowledged by said Alexander & wife, She being privily examined before two Justices of the peace, is with the Certificate of said Justices hereon endorsed admitted to record.
