Published in the Daily Herald on 1/13/2005. Hanna, Peggy Peggy Marie Pollock Olson Hanna died peacefully January 10, 2005 with her daughter, Suzanne Hanna, at her side in their Moreno Valley, CA home. She was born July 1, 1919, in Beaver, UT, the daughter of John Hyrum and Lydia Debra Dunning Pollock. Always grateful for things great and small, she believed that life and its blessings were gifts from a loving Father in Heaven. During her childhood in Salt Lake City and all her life, she imparted her love of music to adults and children alike. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren still sing the songs she taught them. Her adult life was spent in Albuquerque, NM and Orem, UT. She blessed the lives of countless people as a mother, as a member of the LDS Church, President of the Albuquerque Association for Retarded Children, member of the PEO educational sisterhood, through her work at Bandelier Food Market, Hanna's Super Market, Corrales Market and Valley High School and through her constant goodwill as a neighbor and friend. After moving to Utah in 1975, she continued her years of service in the Alpine School District, the Utah Association for Retarded Citizens, the San Diego LDS Mission and with "Kids on the Move," a pre-school early intervention program in Orem. In the days preceding her death, she knew her family was near and she listened to expressions of love from her grandchildren. She wore a Chinese ring inscribed "I Love," that was acquired while traveling the world during retirement with her sister, Marjorie Komadina. Throughout her life, her heart went out to the people she met. Whether in China, Sarajevo, Africa, India or her own neighborhood, she saw the divine goodness in others and wished only good for them. Among loved ones who have gone before, she is welcomed by her youngest son, Phillip Hanna, who died in 1978. She leaves behind her daughter Suzanne, her sons Terry (Karen) Olson and David (Charlotte) Hanna; and 11 grandchildren and their spouses Tara Olson, Kathie. (James) Marshall, Cammie (Erich) Seal, Stan (Amy) Olson, Kelly Olson and Chris Olson; Ben Hanna, Melanie Hanna, Angela Hanna, Elizabeth Hanna and Scott Hanna; 6 great-grandchildren, Katherine, Jordan, Kammie and Zachary Marshall and Alexander and Niklas Olson; her sister Marjorie Komadina of Albuquerque, NM; her nephew, State senator (NM) Steven A. Komadina, MD, and his family of Corrales, NM. She is also survived by her second husband, Mervil Hanna and his family in Albuquerque, and family of her first husband, deceased Lt. Stanley F. Olson of Mink Creek and Preston, ID. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Albuquerque Association for Retarded Citizens and Kids on the Move.
