Nordberg "Mr. Baseball" Lawrence Walden Nordberg, born Feb. 26, 1908 in Frisco, Utah to Ola P. Jonsson Nordberg and Emma Anderson Nordberg, died November 22, 2003 in Delta, Utah from causes incident to old age. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. Survived by one brother, Earl Nordberg, Tucson, Arizona; niece, Carol E. (Calvin) Webb of Tooele; and many other nieces and nephews. Larry was a Corporal (Airplane and Engine Mechanic) in the 237th Army Air Corps Unit, Kirtland Field, during World War II. After graduating from North Cache High School, Smithfield, Utah in 1926 he attended Utah State Agricultural College for one year. He coached basketball and baseball teams for ten years and was a loyal fan of Murray High School baseball for many years. He was employed by Smithfield Brick & Tile Company, Salt Lake Mill and Lumber Company and the Bingham mines. Member of the Church of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The family expresses appreciation to the management and care givers at the Diamond D Inn (assisted living) in Delta, Utah's Heritage Hospice and the Scott Robinson family of Murray for their loving care and service during his declining years. In accordance with Larry's pre-arrangements his remains were cremated under the direction of Jenkins-Soffe South Valley of South Jordan, Utah. Interment pending at the Utah Veteran's Memorial Park.
