Born September 21, 1912 in Abraham, Utah, son of John and Marion C. Hansen Alvey. Married Erma Wood March 17, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a member of the LDS Church. John enjoyed the time spent at the CC Camp in Panguitch and Escalante, Utah. Served in the US Army during World War II in Africa and Italy. Retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 30 years of service. Member of the Eagles Lodge, #67. Survived by wife, Erma; children: Joseph Hugh (Carol) Rosander, Taylorsville; Evoline (Bob) Gardner, Taylorsville; Robert John Alvey, Phoenix, Arizona; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; four sisters. Preceded in death by his parents and a brother. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Heritage Bennion Care Center for their kind care of John. Graveside services will be held Thursday, 12:00 noon at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Redwood Road.
