All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.org/copyright.htm ***************************************************** The Graham Leader-Thursday Dec. 20, 1951--- Funeral Rites for Mrs. Burdick Held Tuesday Funeral services for Mrs. Priscilla Burdick, 83, pioneer resident of Loving, Texas, were conducted from the Loving Methodist Church Tuesday Dec. 18, 2:30pm with Rev. Wilma Roberts Corse officiating, assisted by Rev. George Slayton. Burial was in the Loving Cemetery with the Morrison Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Burdick died Monday morning in the Graham hospital following an illness. She had been a resident of Young County since 1906. Mrs. Priscilla French Burdick was born Aug. 11, 1868 near Olney, Illinois and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Melvin French. She moved to Kansas with her parents at the age of thirteen. She married Charlie Burdick at Waterloo, Kansas , Sept. 5, 1886, and they came to Texas with their family in 1906, settling on the present homestead which has been the family home since that date. Mrs. Burdick became a member of the Methodist Church with her husband. She was a faithful member through the years until ill health kept her from services. Then she joined in the service with her prayers. Mrs. Burdick's husband died several years ago.Ê Mrs. & Mrs. Burdick were both charter members of the Loving Methodist Church. Mrs. Burdick was also a charter member of W.S.C.S. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lydia Horn of Loving, Mrs. George Blevins of Jacksboro, Mrs. Otho Cook of Sweetwater; four sons Henry, Ray, Roy and Arthur Burdick all of Loving; one brother, Ed French of Decatur; two sisters, Mrs. Cynthia Winkle of Lipan, Texas and Mrs. Will Shepard of Living, Texas; 3 half-sisters, Mrs. Viola Sparks of Mineral Wells, Mrs. Effie Self of Wichita Falls and Mrs. John Redway of Chattanooga, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Don Burdick, Jess Shepard, Lee Shepard, Earl Shepard, Clyde Burdick and Walter Gene Shepard.
