Leora was born to Bettie Woods Hodges and L. Fred Hodges, July 18, 1916. She was married to Dayton F. Barrett on June 18, 1939, in the home of her parents in Sterling County. Leora is survived by her daughter, Betty Jo Madrid of Midland; grandsons, Corey and Cody Madrid; a brother, Clinton Hodges of Sterling City and his wife, Joyce; and a sister, Fredamae Brooks of Sterling City and her husband, Bill. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Huffmann; her parents; and her husband, Dayton. Leora was a beloved teacher of generations of students in Sterling County. Leora also taught school at Pontotoc, Texas, and Eagle Pass, Texas. As a first and second grade teacher, she influenced many young lives. Milliken Sr. passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2002, in El Paso. He was born in Kaufman, Texas, on July 31, 1914, and moved to San Angelo in 1926, with his mother, Bessie. George met Agnes Otilia (Tillie) Jones in San Angelo, and they married in 1932. They had three sons, George H. Milliken Jr., Marcus V. Milliken and Kenneth T. Milliken. George and Tillie moved away from San Angelo for a short time, returning in 1946. His wife, Tillie, and two sons, George Jr. and Kenneth, preceded him in death. A car salesman in San Angelo for many years, George was with the Chrysler- Plymouth dealership for 35 of those years. He was frequently ranked in the top ten salesmen in the United States and won numerous trips and awards. A member of the Masonic Lodge for 53 years, George was also a Good Sam Club member for 15 years. When you met George Milliken, you soon became his friend. All of his friends and loved ones will miss him dearly. He is survived by his son, Marcus and daughter-in-law, Leticia C.
