Perales Sr., 77, of Crissey, Calif., was born in San Angelo Sept. 15, 1924. He died Aug. 28, 2001, in Livingston, Calif., about 5 a.m. in an accident. Mr. Perales is survived by two sons, Victor Perales and Albert Perales, both of Amarillo; five daughters, Linda Perales of Plainview, Yolanda Johnson of San Angelo, Oralia Deanda and Rosie Godino, both of Plainview, and Janie Perales of Farmville, Calif.; three brothers, Juan Perales of Fort Worth, Frank Perales of San Angelo and Jose Perales of Hobbs, N.M.; one sister, Maria P. Collick of Salinas, Calif; half sister, Amilia Watkins of San Angelo; 25 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who all loved him very much. LEWIS SEIBERT Lewis Ogden Seibert died Friday morning, Aug. 31, 2001. Lewis was born April 26, 1911, to Clara and Henry Seibert in Orange, Texas. He was preceded in death by sister, Fay Ruth Nolan of Athens, Texas, and brother, J.P. Seibert of Dallas. Surviving family members are his loving and faithful wife, Martha; loving brother, Earl Seibert and his wife, Beth Seibert, of Dallas; and his son, Larry of Garland, who remembers him as a leader among men and a loving father. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Shelley Odekirk, Stan Seibert, Jayda Seibert, Sari Seibert; and great-grandchildren, Dylan Odekirk, Mason Odekirk, Joel Odekirk, father, and Zachery Lewis on the way (December birth) to Stan and Sandy Seibert. Lewis graduated from Texas Christian University and worked for the Dallas Dispatch as district manager from September 1929 through June 1935. In June 1936 he transferred to the Fort Worth Press. September 1939 he was employed by Hi Johnson Ad Agency in Fort Worth. December 1939 he accepted a position as commercial manager of radio station KPLT in Paris, Texas. In 1940 he married his loving and devoted wife, Martha Tera Van Zandt of Fort Worth. Seibert was general manager of KPLT from 1941 to 1943. Lewis and Martha moved to San Angelo in 1943 to manage KGKL radio for Elliott Roosevelt, FDRs son. When Roosevelts lease expired, Seibert worked for owners Houston Harte and H.C. Ragsdale. Lewis bought KGKL Feb. 12, 1953. He also owned KGUL radio in Port Lavaca, Texas, and Angelo Box Co. Seibert was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was president of the Downtown Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, San Angelo Industries, San Angelo Country Club, San Angelo College Entertainment Board and the United Way. He was city commissioner from 1956 to 1958, named Citizen of the Year in 1955, and member of the first MHMR Board, Boy Scouts, YMCA, Fort Concho Board, City Water Resource Committee, Goodfellow Training Center reorganization and ASU Honorary Alumni. Leonel worked 19 years on the DeCoty Farm. He enjoyed the outside life of ranching, farming and deer hunting. He also always enjoyed planting flowers and gardening. It never failed; he always had the radio on even before the sun was up. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Those around him admired his strength and desire of never giving up. To his friends he was the best. To his nieces and nephews he was a second father. To his grandchildren he will always be grandpa and to us, his children, you will always be the best father. We will always keep you close to our hearts. Thank you for all the great memories Dad. She married John Richard Manos Feb. 17, 1934, in Evant and had four children, Corena Mae, Gary Allen, infant daughter, Coella, and infant son. A resident of San Angelo since 1951, she retired as a cafeteria manager for San Angelo Independent School District after 20 years. She was a member of Colorado and Jackson St. Church of Christ and later Southgate Church of Christ. SMITH IRAAN Royce D. Smith, a resident of Iraan for 46 years, passed away at the McCamey Convalescent Center on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 11, 2001, at First United Methodist Church in Iraan, with the Rev. Rick Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery. Royce was born to Willie Joe and Leroy Smith on Nov. 15, 1925. His early years were spent in Colorado City, Texas. After graduation from Colorado City High School, he served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. After returning from the Army, he attended McMurry University, where he played college football. After college, Royce taught school and coached football in Haskell, Texas from 1949 to 1955. Royce and his family moved to Iraan in 1955 as head football coach for several years and then he became Iraan Elementary School principal until his retirement in 1984. Royce was a member of First United Methodist Church of Iraan, where in his younger days he served as lay speaker, taught the mens Sunday school class, served as head of trustees committee and sang in the choir. He was a former member of the Iraan Lions Club. Royce was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Phyllis Green Smith; and a brother, Jack Smith. He is survived by his wife, Anita Smith of Iraan; daughters, Philda Morrison and her husband, Tommy, of Seminole, Dee Ann Hunt and her husband, Jim, of Douglas, Wyo., and Sandra Turner and husband, Clarke, of Big Lake; a son, Ed Hicks and his wife, Robin, of Hurricane, West. Bill was born in Ponca City, Okla., on Dec. 29, 1923, to Norris and Hazel Harp. He grew up in Pyote and Grandfalls, Texas. On Dec. 25, 1942, he married Nettie Ganoe. Also, on that day he received his induction notice from Uncle Sam. Jan. 7, 1943, he entered the Army training at Camp Haan, Calif., serving 18 months in Germany. Bill went to Cyone Electrical School in Chicago for training as a refrigeration and television technician. He owned and operated Bills TV Sales and Service from 1955 to 1992. If you knew Bill Harp, you knew he was a hard worker and that he loved the Lord God. He used much of his work as a service to the Lord. Bill loved and was very proud of his family. His greatest gift to them was his Christian influence and example. He was preceded in death by beloved daughter, Cynthia Pare; his parents; one brother; and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Nettie Harp, daughter Nettie Ann Kerry and husband, David, all of San Angelo; a son Norris Harp and wife, Ann, of Richardson; a brother Dick Harp and wife, Margaret, of Houston; six grandchildren, Rynae Calder, Jennifer Rogers, Bill Harp, Rebecca Jensen, Laura Thomason and Elizabeth Kile and spouses; and eight great-grandchildren.
