Rocky Mount

Rocky Mount is a community located between the "Plum Creek" community and the 
town of Oakwood.  (Oakwood is in adjacent Leon County).  Founded by Beeton 
Stroud and other family members.  The farm lands around Rocky Mount is drained 
by Keechi Creek.  Rocky Mount was about a mile west of the Liberty community
and about two miles north of Oakwood.  The Oak View School was about two miles
on the other side of Keechi Creek.

The Rocky Mount school had 22 Africian-American pupils in 1887.
