Freestone County, Texas Communities Old Ghost Towns - Never had a post office: New Hope New Hope was located near the Limestone County line about three miles west of Shanks and about five miles southwest of Kirvin. New Hope was about a mile northwest of Cotton Gin. The farms in the area are drained by Willow Creek that flows into Tehuacana Creek. The school at New Hope had 47 students in 1887 and 28 pupils in 1891-2. A number of churches were in the area such as Friendship Church, Rocky Branch Church, and Campbell Branch Church.
