Lakeport

The Lakeport community is located about 2 miles east of Butler towards the 
Trinity River.  West Point Hill and Blue Lake is about 1/2 mile northeast
of Lakeport.  Lakeport has traditionally benefited from being on the road 
to Palestine located in Anderson County.  The road crosses into Anderson 
County at the site of the old Bonner Ferry near Gilbert Lake.  The Saline 
Branch runs by Lakeport and then flows into Blue Lake.

Postal Changes

  A new postoffice has been established at Lakeport, Freestone county, 2 1/2 
miles east of Butler.
