James W. Sledge

Services for James W. Sledge, 58, of Tyler, were held June 17, at Stewart Family 
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Carter officiating.

A private burial followed under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Sledge passed away on June 13, 2010 in Tyler.

He was born September 18, 1951 in Henderson to Ernest Edward and Dorothy 
Trueblood Sledge.

Mr. Sledge graduated from Henderson high school and attended Kilgore College. 
He was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church.

He worked in the natural gas industry for 30 years and was currently working as 
a field supervisor for Enbridge Pipelines in Longview.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Matt Sledge, brother, Dean Sledge 
and nephew Kyle Cassity.

Mr. Sledge is survived by his wife Betty Sledge of Tyler; sons, Jeremy Reed and 
wife Mary Jane of Houston and Scott Reed and wife Kristen of Costa Mesa, CA; 
daughter, Jennifer Hill and husband Tim of Cypress;

Sisters, Judy Cassity and husband Joe of Carthage and Rita Cox of Longview; 
sister-in-law, Louisa Adelung and husband Denny of Bellaire; brother-in-law, 
Don Watson and wife Sandy of Pearland; and grandchildren, Kobe Reed and Kaitlyn 
Hill. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Rains, Stephen McFadden, Billy Neal, Ken Bowman, 
Ryan Tandy, Jeff Jacks, Billy Calfee and Brad Tipps.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult 3A Sunday School Class of Colonial Hills 
Baptist Church.

Visitation was Wednesday, June 16.
