Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder May 20, 2010 edition Beth Olin A celebration of life service was held in Plano and in Geary, Okla. for Beth Olin of Plano who passed away Monday, May 3, 2010 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born in Watonga, OK on August 29, 1947 to James Boyd and Nina Nelson of Geary, OK. She grew up in Geary and graduated from Geary High School in 1965. Mrs. Olin attended Oklahoma State University and graduated from Southwestern State University in Weatherford, OK. After moving to Dallas she met and married her husband, Gifford Olin in 1972. They moved to Plano where their two children, Ashlee and Chance were born. Mrs. Olin was an avid supporter in all the school and sport activities of her children, as well as the activities of her nephew and niece. She was a member of the Plano Junior League, American Cancer Society of Collin County and for many years she chaired the Plano Golf Tournaments benefiting the Quarterback Club of Plano Senior High. Mrs. Olin was a gifted pianist who used her talent to play in church, entertain her friends and in her later years to provide joy to her father’s friends at his retirement home. Beth charmed everyone with her sweet smile and sense of humor. Her strength and faith gave inspiration to all whose lives she touched. Mrs. Olin was preceded in death by her mother Nina Burns Nelson of Geary, OK. She is survived by her devoted father James Boyd Nelson formerly of Geary, OK and current resident of Plano; loving husband of 38 years, Gifford Olin; daughter, Ashlee, husband Rod Daniel and grandson Mason of Fairfield, TX; son, Chance Olin of Fort Worth; brother Jim Nelson of Plano; niece, Angie Nelson of Plano; and nephew, Jay Nelson, wife Brooke, and great nieces, Riley and Montgomerie of Dallas. She will also be missed by her faithful King Charles Spaniel, Toby.
