Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Freestone County Times Feb 17, 2009 Page: 8-B Funeral services for Laura Lee Myers, 37, were held on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Teague. Bro. Shannon Hopkins and Bro. Darrel Beggs officiated. Interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Myers passed away on Monday at Providence Hospital in Waco. She was born in Nederland, TX and grew up in Wharton County, graduating from Bay City High School with the Class of 1989. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1993 and a Master’s in 1995. She married Brett A. Myers on November 19, 1994. Mrs. Myers later earned another Master’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2000. Mrs. Myers taught at Coolidge I.S.D. and at Navarro College and was currently teaching at Teague High School. She was also the twirling sponsor for the T.H.S. Band. She loved exercise and worked out frequently. Laura Lee taught herself sign language and worked with the deaf for almost fifteen years. She was currently signing the Sunday morning worship service for Faith Baptist Church in Buffalo. She enjoyed photography and scrap booking and spent many hours doing both with her beloved girls. Laura Lee was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Teague. She taught Sunday school with her husband, lead children’s choir, assisted with youth functions, taught Baptist Missions with her mother to children at Team Kid on Wednesday nights, and was involved in other ministries at First Baptist. Laura Lee always had a smile that would light up the room and will be missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by her husband of over fourteen years, Brett A. Myers; two daughters, Layne Grayson and Lauren Gabrielle Myers; her mother, Barbara (Gram) Carter; her mother-in-law, Lola Myers all of Teague; her father-in-law, Bobby Myers & wife Beth of Bullard; her brother-in-law, Andy Myers and one nephew, Cale Myers, all of Teague. She graduated from Bay City high school in 1989 and attended Texas A&M University where she earned her bachelors degree in 1993 and her masters degree in 1995. Mrs. Myers later earned her second masters degree from Stephen F. Austin University in 2000. She married her husband Brett Myers on Nov. 19, 1994. Mrs. Myers taught at Coolidge Independent School District, Navarro College and was currently employed with Teague where she also served as the twirling sponsor for the high school band. She was passionate about fitness and exercised regularly. She also enjoyed photography and was an avid scrapbooker, a hobby she shared with her daughters. Mrs. Myers taught herself sign language and worked with the deaf for over 15 years. She signed the Sunday morning worship services for Faith Baptist Church in Buffalo. She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Teague. Mrs. Myers taught Sunday school with her husband, assisted with youth functions, led children's choir and taught Baptist Missions with her mother on Wednesday nights. Mrs. Myers is survived by her husband of over 14 years, Brett Myers of Teague; daughters, Layne Grayson and Lauren Gabrielle Myers, both of Teague; mother, Barbara (Gram) Carter of Teague; mother-in-law, Lola Myers of Teague; fatherin law, Bobby Myers and wife Beth of Bullard of Teague; brother-in-law, Andy Myers of Teague ; and nephew, Cale Myers of Teague.
